Geographisches Kolloquium am Geographischen Institut

Dr. Emily Burchfeld

online via Zoom

Dear colleagues and students,

I would like to warmly invite you to the next presentation in the Geography Department colloquium (06.06.2023, 15:15, online).

Emily Burchfield (Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia, US) will give a talk on
"Sustainable agricultural futures in the United States".

Abstract: In this talk, Dr. Burchfield will give a high-level overview of the major challenges facing U.S. agriculture by discussing her recent work on declining crop diversity, farm operator livelihoods, and the agricultural impacts of climate change. She will also share three big ideas to support thriving agricultural systems in the Anthropocene: working with ecological systems; finding, understanding and cultivating bright spots; and creating space for adaptive experimentation.

We'll meet online here: https://hu-berlin.zoom.us/j/68112907924

Emily will also be at the Geography Department for a joint workshop (June 22/23) and would be happy to exchange.

I look forward to next week's colloquium.

Kind regards,

Tobia Lakes
