Measurement instruments



  • 3 automatic weather stations (AWS)
    • components: air temperature and humidity in 0.5m and 2m height, wind direction and wind speed, shortwave radiation (in, out), longwave radiation (in, out), precipitation, air pressure, snow depth
  • 1 eddy-covariance station incl. water vapour and open-path-gaz analyzer for measuremens of H2O and CO2 fluxes based on the eddy-covariance method
  • handheld measurement instruments for air temperature, humidity, global radiation, radiation temperature, soil temperature, surface temperature, NO, wind
  • thermal camera
  • glacial climatology: ice driller, snow density scale, ablation stakes

Air quality

  • ultra-fine particle (UFP) station: condensation particle counter (CPC) for particles of sizes 7-2000nm, particle number concentration incl. accompanying meteorological measurements (precipitation, air temperature, humidity, wind, air pressure)
  • 2 particulate matter (PM) stations: 420 nm – 32 µm sizes in several size classes, PM1, PM2.5, PM10 incl. air temperature and humidity
  • low-cost sensors for measuring PM, NO2, NO, ozone, air temperature and humidity
  • passive collector for NO2 measurements Passivsammler für Stickstoffdioxid-Messungen
  • UFP CPC for particles of sizes 10-1000nm, particle number concentration
  • UFP scanning mobility particle sizer (SMPS) for particles of size classes 10-420nm for determination of particle size distribution
