Workshop Berlin, January 2019

14-18 January 2019, Berlin, Germany

After two years of successful cooperation and collaboration, the workshop at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin aimed to look back and plan the way forward. Both junior and senior staff from all network members came together for five days to discuss and determine the future of the network and to deepen the relationship, e.g. through scientific talks by the participants. Furthermore, the capacity of the participants was built through lectures on research and competence-based learning and teaching as well as on possibilities of funding programmes in Germany.

The 24 workshop participants decided not just to build up on the past successes but extend their collaboration and cooperation activities. The following network activities were identified:

  1. Joint study projects,
  2. Staff and student exchange,
  3. Research collaboration and joint supervision,
  4. Summer schools, and
  5. Joint conferences and workshops.

To allow for this extension of network activities, the participants decided to change the network's name from EAGERLearn to EAGER Trans-Net.

The workshop was also a great opportunity to formally and officially introduce and integrate a new member of the network: the Institute of Human Settlement Studies of Ardhi University in Tanzania.
