New publication "Mapping Brazilian savanna vegetation gradients with Landsat time series"

Marcel Schwieder et al., doctoral researcher at the Geomatics Lab published the paper on "Mapping Brazilian savanna vegetation gradients with Landsat time series" in the International Journal of Applied Earth Observation and Geoinformation.

In this paper they present a study in which they used synthetically filled Landsat time series to derive pixel wise phenological parameters within the study areas in the Brazilian Cerrado.
The results revealed differences in land surface phenology between the main Cerrado physiognomies, which they used to map their spatial patterns.
Even though they were able to differentiate the main spatial patterns, they could also highlight the limitations of hard classification approaches in such heterogeneous ecosystems.
