About me


I am an ecologist working in conservation sciences. My work is based on the sustainable management of ecosystems using ground data, GIS, and remote sensing tools. Throughout my scientific career I have focused on the problems associated with agricultural expansion and land use changes. During my PhD I studied the land use changes dynamics in the South American Chaco, its consequences in the social-ecological configuration, and the impact in the most vulnerable communities against forest loss. My research contributes to more tailored, and thus more effective land-use policies for the natural resources management and for a more equitable distribution of the benefits and harms of land-use changes among different stakeholders.

I am now working as postdoctoral researcher in the conservation Biogeography Lab, with the aim of developing concepts and methods to better characterize the spatial and temporal dynamics of socio-ecological systems in regions undergoing rapid land-use change. I will characterize the social-ecological heterogeneity and complexity in the Argentine Chaco to develop a spatial template for sustainability planning. I will empirically study the relationship between social poverty and environmental degradation in the Argentine Chaco. By last, I will analyse and compare how different stakeholders react to conservation policies in different environmental and political contexts.
