About me

I am a PhD student in conservation science with the background in Zoology, from Yerevan State University, Armenia. Still a student, I have been working in wildlife conservation in Armenia, both with academics and NGO’s. During those years, my main interests were in bird and mammal population studies, monitoring and habitat protection in protected natural areas, as well as outside of them.

All of this, eventually, gave me motivation for starting my PhD project. The aim of my research is to understand the conservation status of the brown bear in the Caucasus Ecoregion. More specifically, my research will provide new insights into the geographic distribution of suitable habitats of brown bears in the Ecoregion, genetic structure of its populations and the level of connectivity between them, as well as will look for the spatial patterns of conflict risk between brown bears and people.
