About me

My current research focus is on land cover and land-use change in the steppe area of northern Kazakhstan after the breakdown of Soviet Union. This includes cropland extent change (cropland abandonment and recultivation), steppe fire dynamics (change of burned area), and vegetation dynamics change (grassland degradation). In my studies I mostly use state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms to analyse dense time series of satellite images.
