Outreach and Impact

We are keen to engage with audiences beyond academia, and make science accessible.

Long Night of Science

Credit: Vanishing Treasures Project

At the Long Night of Science, we engaged with people to present not just our Lab, but most importantly our CAMCA project (Central Asian Mammals and Climate Adaptation). There, we had the opportunity to creatively spread awareness and information about snow leopards, their environment and the need for Nature Conservation. Using VR-Glasses and interactive information material to dive into the world of snow leopards, we reached out to many individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

Colloquium Announcement 20.01.2026

On 20.01.2026, our member Dr. Ana Sofía Monroy Sais will present her work about "Agrobiodiversity management and conservation in the Mexican milpa system."

In this presentation, Dr. Monroy will talk about the importance of agrobiodiversity conservation in the context of the milpa system in Mexico. The milpa system is an ancient Mesoamerican polyculture in which maize is its core element. This agroecosystem has experienced drastic changes since the Green Revolution, threatening its continuity. She will explore how embracing plural values embedded in milpa cultivation can enhance the maintenance of the milpa system and smallholder farmers in the future.
