MAT_STOCKS

MAT_STOCKS focuses on quantifying anthropogenic material stocks from remote sensing data (mostly Sentinel-1/2; night time lights; future GEDI data) and from globally available databases (e.g. OpenStreetMap, population databases). We target several national-scale, wall-to-wall cases, ranging from small (e.g. Austria and UK) to large countries (e.g. Russia, China and USA). More...


Landsat satellite flying above EarthLandsat Science Team

Within the five year period of the newly formed Landsat Science Team (2018-2023) our research focus is on "Synergies between future Landsat and European satellite missions, from land cover to land use".

For the period 2018-2023, the Landsat Science Team provides technical and scientific input to USGS and NASA on issues critical to the success of the Landsat program. This Landsat Science Team has the goal to ensure that Landsat 9 data, and relevant data from future Landsat missions are completely integrated with past Landsat data for the purpose of meeting the needs of current users and enabling new applications.

The forthcoming Environmental Mapping and Analysis Program (EnMAP) is a German hyperspectral satellite mission. The Geomatics Lab contributes to the scientific preparation of the EnMAP mission through our participation in the EnMAP Science Advisory Group (EnSAG), the EnMAP Core Science Team (ECST), and the EnMAP-Box project. The aim is to develop the Big Data system GeoMultiSens for the management and analysis of large volumes of remote sensing data. Scientists from disciplines such as Big Data infrastructures, parallel computing environments, Visual Analytics and remote sensing work on GeoMultiSens.
