About me
Geographer by training, with special interest in human-environment interactions on local to global scales. Curious about remote sensing & big data applications in the context of food production, water resources, and sustainable land management.
In my scholarship-funded PhD project, I tried to shed some light on the effects of dam construction on land systems. Specifically, I was looking into the implications irrigation dams have for agricultural land extent and use intensity.
At the lab, I´m involved in teaching classes in statistics, geoinformation science, and advanced Earth observation. Stuff I like: #landuse, #rstats, #python, #datascience, #space, #machinelearning, #openscience. Follow @philrufin for updates.
