About me

I am a Geographer with a background on remote sensing, nature protection, geographical information science and cartography. My research focuses on mapping and understanding land use and land cover changes using remote sensing, with a special interest in forest disturbances.

Since more than a decade, my regional focus are the Carpathian mountains. Most of my scientific work is tied to this area. Locally, on the institutes "doorstep", I'm involved in capacity building within the counties nature protection agency.

As much time as possible I spend outdoors and are active in different field surveys such as LUCAS. At the lab, I´m involved in teaching classes in remote sensing, geoinformation science, and applied field classes.

For more information on the Carpathian research (in German) please check here.
