About Me

I have broad research interests in the interdisciplinary fields of land system science and biogeography. While studying Geography, Agrarian Sciences and Geology I became interested in examining recent and past changes in land use and land cover with remote sensing methods. In my doctoral thesis, I evaluated how changes in land use and other human impacts affected large mammals' habitat, species population dynamics, and protected area effectiveness in European Russia in post-Soviet times. As a Postdoc in the Geomatics Lab I am deepening my remote sensing skills, still focussing on land system science.
