Freshwater futures: global change effects on biodiversity

Many freshwater ecosystems are not managed sustainably and experience high biodiversity loss. In my research, I use various modelling approaches to disentangle the relative influence of climate, land use and other stressors on freshwater ecosystems - from the catchment to the global scale, and from macroinvertebrates to freshwater megafauna. My talk will provide examples of how we use this modelling framework for a holistic assessment of both global change and management-related scenarios on freshwater ecosystems and the species living in them.
