About me

I'm Christian Levers, born in 1983 and raised in Duisburg, right on the border of the Ruhr Metropolitan and the Lower Rhine Region. After finishing my highschool at Franz-Haniel-Gymnasium in Duisburg (and doing social service), I decided to study what interested me the most during my high school time: Geography. I always was and still am fascinated by the multitude of topics and the combination of natural and social science.

I am concerned about the speed and intensity of how we transform our natural environment in human-dominated areas and that we do not alter our consumption habits, although we have the knowledge where our current customs will lead us to. My motivation is to contribute a little piece to the progress of realising sustainable land-use practices in the face of a growing world population. To be able to understand the processes behind land-use changes, it is inevitable to understand natural and anthropogenic forces. Against this backdrop, my research mainly focusses on mapping and explaining changing land-use patterns with an emphasis on land-use intensity

What I do in my free time

I like to spend as much time as possible being outside...hiking, beachvolleyball, football. During the winter, I enjoy a match of badminton and practicing kickboxing. One of my biggest passions is travelling and couchsurfing along the way where I am happy to meet new people with different backgrounds and stories to tell.
