Professor in Climatology (W3)

(starting date: Oct, 1st 2014)

The successful applicant is internationally renowned and will develop a groundbreaking research program to advance the understanding of climate change and climate change mitigation and adaptation with respect to the department’s research program (http://www.geographie.hu-berlin.de/research). Candidates with a regional geographical focus should be specific on how their research will contribute to advancing the state-of-the-art in climatology at large. The climatology lab is also expected to play a key role in the Integrative Research Institute on “Transformations of Human-Environment Systems” (IRI THESys, www.iri-thesys.org).

We seek candidates with an excellent scientific track record in climatology and the ability to link between climate research and neighboring research domains with relevance for the Geography Department. We expect a strong interest in sustainability science and global environmental change research. Excellent command of the English language, good communication skills, and willingness to integrate into an international and diverse research environment are mandatory. The application should provide details on the candidate’s teaching experience and ideally gives prove of her/his dedication for working with students across all levels.
