Landschaftsökologie/ Landscape Ecology Lab
The group of Landscape Ecology deals with ecosystems, ecosystem services, land use and ist actors along the urban to rural gradient. The main topics are land use change, human and urban footprint, ecosystem services, multicriteria risk, resilience and system anaylsis.
The group mainly works with models (process models, statistical models, cellular automata models and agent-based models) but also uses empirical fieldwork (e.g. C estimation of urban trees, mapping of land-use, role games, causal-loop-diagraming).
At current, the group works in three EU projects, namely URBES, RISK MAP and ESOLAB. Further, the group is involved in the Global Land Project (GLP), the Urbanization and Global Environmental Change Project (UGEC) and the City Biodiversity Outlook (CBO) of the UN. The LE Lab closely collaborates with the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research
– UFZ, the ZALF in Müncheberg, the Technical University of Munich, the Salzburg University, the Stockholm Resilience Centre, the Institute of Wold Economics in Kiel and the GFZ in Potsdam.
